Twelve Days of Christmas: Day 1

Are you ready for some crafty holiday projects?
For the next 12 days, we'll be showcasing some awesome craftiness from the Got Sketch? team.

We are kicking off our Twelve Days of Christmas feature with some oh-so-gorgeous tags from Lisette Gibbons!  They are perfect for this gift-giving time.

Sketch 97
With Christmas on our doorstep, it seem one can never have enough Christmas tags. I'm a huge fan of the kraft, red and white look. For the past couple of years I've been wrapping all my presents in kraft paper and only using a small piece of wrapping or patterned paper with a big ribbon and a fancy tag. I personally could do with a few more gift tags, therefore I created four gift tags all based on Got Sketch?'s original card sketch 97.

For all four tags I used the same die as my base. Let's take a look at the first tag.

As you can see I replaced one of the circles on the sketch with a snowflake and used a rectangle for the sentiment rather than a heart. Instead of using patterned paper underneath, I stamped an image. I also inked the edges with white ink. Instead of using two ribbons I only used one, as the tag is too small for two unless you'd use something very thin like twine.

Again, I replaced one of the circles with a snowflake, however this time the other one. I also stamped the sentiment directly on the card base. Use the sketch as a guide and don't feel you need to stick to it completely. My interpretation on tag 3 was even looser.

This time I interpreted the vertical shape with the tree and stamped the sentiment diagonally on the tree on the left hand side, rather than on the right. As you can see I stamped backgrounds on all the tags to create depth and interest. And then finally tag 4.

On this tag, I used a button and a doily to represent the bottom circular shape.
Here is what one of the tags would look like on a present. Doesn't it look gorgeous?

You could also make some gift tags as a gift. These cute paper bags from Whisker Graphics are the perfect size to put them in.
Of course, the possibilities are endless. I hope I've inspired you to make a few gift tags yourself.
