Twelve Days of Christmas: Day 4

The sketches aren't just for scrapbook layouts & cards.  Chrissy shows you how you can use the design even on an altered item.  Her wooden tray is too cute and makes such an adorable holiday decor!

Sketch 3

Chrissy's Tips:  I found this wonderful wooden tray at Micheal's and knew I had to buy it and decorate it with my children's Christmas pictures!  And what better way to get inspired than with one of the Got Sketch? sketches.  I skimmed through all of the sketches and looked for one that included full length, vertical 4x6 pictures.  Sketch #3 was perfect.  I started by adhering my three 4x6 pictures and then added  borders to the top and bottom of the pictures.  Next, I added the 3" half circles to the top and bottom of the tray.  (see image pic #2)  The sketch shows the title on the upper right corner and the journaling on the bottom.  I switched them around and put journaling strips on the top right corner and used the journaling strip attached to the tree as my title.  The sketch also shows an embellishment towards the bottom left corner.  I moved my embellishment a little more towards the center and added a tree with presents.  To make them pop out I cut a 1/2" strip of thin cardstock and folded it into a square.  I taped the edges together.  Then, I put adhesive on one side of the cardboard square and attached it to the tray and then attached the opposite side of the cardboard square to the tree sticker.  I also did this with the green present.  (see image pic #1, #3 and #4)  I finished off the tray by painting the top edge red and the outside green.  Finally, I attached a ribbon to the top center.
